About Internships at
Pacific Biodiversity Institute
Pacific Biodiversity Institute has a well-established internship program that offers exceptional opportunities for people seeking further education and a stepping-stone to employment in some area of conservation or scientific research. We have provided interns with education and work experience in:
- Conservation Biology
- Ecology
- Forestry
- Botany
- Wildlife Biology
- Mapping and Landscape Analysis (GIS)
- Aerial-Photo Interpretation and Remote Sensing
- Public and Media Outreach
- Non-profit Organizational Management
- Development and Fundraising
Internships generally run for three-month periods, full-time. The program is available year-round and is open to undergraduate students, post-graduates, graduate students, or other interested persons. Some of our internships are based out of our field research sites while other internships are based out of Winthrop, Washington, in the heart of the spectacular North Cascade Mountains. Interns may be able to stay at a furnished cabin within 2 blocks of the center of Winthrop, with a beautiful view of the wild Chewuch River.

Be sure to check out the articles from our 2003 Internship Newsletter and Winter 2001 Newsletter, “Expanding Horizons: the Intern Experience” and “The Alien Weeds Project.” These articles were written by interns about their experiences with Pacific Biodiversity Institute.
